Canon PowerShot G7 has got high end features. It has got a solid, compact body and has also got external flash capabilities. It is actually the successor of Canon’s previous G6 model. The camera has got an effective pixel of 10 Megapixels.

PowerShot G7 Features

The 10 Megapixel PowerShot G7 is provided with optical zooming which extend up to 6x. The zoom lens is provided with additional features like Image stabilizer and SR coating. Two important features incorporated in the camera include Advanced Noise Reduction and Face Detection. For viewing the images taken a 2.5” high resolution LCD is provided. The LCD display has got a wide viewing angle and anti glare coating. Good quality pictures can be obtained even under low light condition. Also there are optional lens accessories available for the Powershot G7 as it is a high end one. It utilizes Digic III processor.

Image Size and Movie Clips

JPEG, DCF, DPOF and AVI motion JPEG with WAVE monaural are the different file formats supported by Powershot G7. They support different image sizes like 3648 x 2736, 3648 x 2048, 2816 x 2112, 2272 x 1704, 1600 x 1200 and 640 x 480 pixels. In the case of the movie clips, they support 1024 x 768 @ 15fps, 640 x 480 @ 30 / 15fps, 320 x 240 @ 30 / 15fps and 160 x 120 @ 15fps. So, high quality images as well as high quality videos can be obtained using Canon PowerShot G7.

Storage and Power

External storage devices like SD card and SDHC card can be used for storing photos or videos taken. It uses Rechargeable Li-ion battery NB-2LH/NB-2L (720mAh) for its working. The battery in the fully charged state is capable of taking up to 220 photos. The battery charger will be provided along with the camera. There are optional accessories available which can be purchased separately.

Canon PowerShot G7 costs about $480 in United States and £330 in UK. It is available in black color. It has got a solid and compact body.
