When you start shooting in spring, you will probably notice immediately, that in early spring light is very soft and nature not very colorful yet. Spring is very colorful at the end – a lot of motives tries to catch your attention, so listen to them all and shoot as much as you can. Do not forget to shoot in all 3 main distances: Macro (bugs, bees, flowers, …), middle (cca 1-10 m, for example nice act in woods) and from far away (whole meadows with forest and/or sky).

If you want to photograph water (melting snow, waterfalls, …), it is common trick to use longer exposures, which nicely smears water. However, because in spring is relatively lot of light, you may have to wait for evening/morning or simply use shadow filter to make accessible longer times also in midday or so.

Spring is also full of new animal life, which usually makes great motives. But if you plan to photograph any sort of wild life, please do remember to avoid one common mistake. And which one we are talking about? While shooting and framing animals, keep in mind, that moving targets shouldn’t be near the edge and need some space to “breath”.

Just a few more words about flowers: We do not recommend simply point and shoot with your camera, but carefully plan, what will be in the background. Photographers often forget, that background should be neutral and contrast, but not too much and with too many different colors (they distract from main motive). Basically taken, there is also other good way, how to separate flower and background – different brightness.
