Olympus Stylus 1040 review
Olympus announced its new digital camera Olympus Stylus 1040 on 25th August 2008. It is a 10.1 Mega pixel camera. It supports digital zoom up to 3x.
Olympus Stylus 1040 Features
Maximum possible image resolution in this camera is 3648 x 2736. Other possible resolutions are 2560 x 1920, 2304 x 1728, 2048 x 1536, 1920 x 1080, 1600 x 1200, 1280 x 960 and 640 x 480. Two image ratios supported by Olympus Stylus 1040 are 4:3 and 16:9. The pixel density of the camera is 36 MP/cm². It uses a CCD type sensor. Wide zoom is possible up to 38mm and Tele zoom is possible up to 114mm. Olympus Stylus 1040 does not support manual focus. It only supports auto focusing. Normal focus range of the camera is 50cm and the macro focus range is 5cm.
The camera has got an in built flash and does not support external flash. Stylus 1040 supports 4 flash modes. They are Auto, On, Off and red Eye reduction. It supports movie recording. Movie clips can be obtained in two resolutions. They are 640 x 480, 30 fps, and 320 x 240, 15 fps. Olympus has included a self timer in this model. It utilizes a 2.7” LCD screen for display and the resolution of the LCD screen is 230,000 pixels. It is also known by the name Olympus mju 1040. Two extra features included in the camera are face detection technology and Shadow adjustment technology.
Power and Connectivity
Olympus Stylus 1040 uses rechargeable Lithium on battery for its functioning. Battery charger is also included with the camera. You can share the images and videos taken by with the help of USB connectivity or video out facility provided in the camera. Data cable for connecting the camera to the computer is also provided.
Weight and Storage
Olympus Stylus 1040 weighs about 148 g, including the batteries. The dimension of the camera is 89 x 56 x 20 mm. They have provided 14.8 MB of internal memory. You can use xD picture card to increase the memory.
Price and Looks
Olympus Stylus 1040 costs about 299$. It is slim and has got an elegant design. It is available in three different colors: red, black and silver.
